NINE YEARS 12 DAYS / DAY ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-ONE: THURSDAY 12 DECEMBER 2024

Fixing a 4 screwed mirror to the wall, discovering the hammer aspect of my drill, fitting plastic anchors and finishing painting the bathroom in time for a friend visiting this weekend. Oh and yoga everyday this week.*****

Meeting up in Hareskoven to go mountain biking in the Dark, in the theme of Lucia.
A tradition of carrying light forward in a Dark time.

NINE YEARS 6 DAYS / DAY ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE: FRIDAY 6 DECEMBER 2024

A massive jigsaw piece of my life has been found. A happy place for Otto to stay when I need to go away. A sheep farm so they know and understand collies…. And this is his welcome 🥰

Making a gourmet meal out of cheap ingredients. You can buy a portion of mussels enough for two people for 30 danish kroner (2,5 pounds) some left over veggies (onion and leek) and voila, bon appetite.

NINE YEARS 4 DAYS / DAY ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-THREE: WEDNESDAY 4 DECEMBER 2024

First fire of the year. Crashing a bit after all the excitement of the Saudi trip so ribeye and a cosy homely fire was my healthy soothing.

Achievement; keeping this plant alive for 8 years now. Every year all the leaves fall off, but then new grow….
Still not sure what kind of palm tree it is.

EIGHT YEARS 351 DAYS / DAY ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FOUR: FRIDAY 15 NOVEMBER 2024

I have found a farm in Devon where Otto can stay if I am away that is affordable and friendly. This is the biggest relief because Otto is my biggest comfort in life but also when I want to go away my biggest stress. Feels like a huge achievement to have found this place and now visited. *****

Today 4 years ago we bought this lovely little wooden cabin near the sea.
The house was built the same year I was born (1978) and stands intact with all original interior, even the oven from back then still works.
A little haven from the bustling city life.

EIGHT YEARS 343 DAYS / DAY ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SIX: THURSDAY 7 NOVEMBER 2024

Made more props today including 3 ‘burrows’ involving cardboard, hanging basket pockets, expandable foam and plaster….a good team and varied work which involves me using my initiative. Definitely feels like I’m achieving right now.

Achievement; finally moving away from stressfulness with physical activity followed by comfort food (home made burgers and baked sweet potatoes) and rest.

EIGHT YEARS 328 DAYS / DAY ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN: WEDNESDAY 23 OCTOBER 2024

Woke up at home sweet home and when I went to have my morning cup of coffee, I happily remembered I had my new mug from Crete to unwrap. I’d managed despite only having hand luggage. Achievement getting i amt back and in one piece. I love it.

Some days are tough and long and it is an achievement just getting through the day and going to bed under a blue moon.
This night the moon was particularly orange and big.

EIGHT YEARS 313 DAYS / DAY NINETY-SIX: TUESDAY 8 OCTOBER 2024

Breakfast of yoghurt and fruits on the balcony, then took the local bus to a recommended beach. It was bliss. Clothes or no clothes, people camping and water so clear and stunning, diamonds bouncing off the top.

Managed to get through another day of work, still a bit dazed by jetlag.
Came home and made a lovely soup out of leftovers in the fridge; celeriac, carrot, onion, sweet potato soup.
Picture half way in process, it lost some of the nice color once blended, but still tasted delicious springled with spring(le) onion and roasted pumpkin seeds.

EIGHT YEARS 311 DAYS / DAY NINETY-FOUR: SUNDAY 6 OCTOBER 2024

Took a bus to Heraklion a port where we’re taking a ferry tonight….so the achievement is being in the right place, on the correct date for a ferry at 2 in the morning. I booked a hotel room for down time and a mini sleep before getting back up again.

Home sweet home. The morning light comes beautifully into the bedroom and the adjoining room. Back from my trip to Japan, funky feeling traveling back in time. Didn’t really sleep on the long flight from Tokyo to Helsinki, so went to bed early Saturday and got up early Sunday to enjoy this beautiful light and also going to a 13,3km fitness run in Dyrehaven (Deer park) a huge park outside Copenhagen with loads of game.
Also opened my mail to discover  that I had won tickets for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on Sunday evening, so managed my run in a good time (1 hour 14 minutes 11 seconds) back home for a lovely meal and then out to Royal Arena to listen to the preacher man.

EIGHT YEARS 295 DAYS / DAY SEVENTY-EIGHT: FRIDAY 20 SEPTEMBER 2024

Another really sunny day in a slow paced week. The back of my house was finished this morning. Drainpipes sanded, holes filled in, wires neatened, cement fixed, windows sills sanded and painted black and the brick painted white. It looks incredible. I then managed to go to the studio for the first time in ages and actually made interesting progress on a painting.

Flying to Japan to be ushideshi in Iwama.
