FRIDAY 22 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 265 DAYS

Final day making figure sculptures with the Dutch artist Frode Bolhuis..a very well spent week. Afterwards we drove back to the Cotswolds to Margie’s sister’s house. A couple of beers was medicine for a bombshell of a text received just before we did our final exhibition, cancelling 2 months of future work I had coming up with Disney. You got to roll with the punches….*****

This is the basement of the hospital where my locker room is.
Passing through the halls after work hour work out.
Maybe you can see me?

TUESDAY 19 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 262 DAYS

Frode Bolhuis showing us how to make a polymer clay figure. The ease and grace with which he placed the fingers and feet on was a delight to watch. Had delicious curry in an authentic little hole in the wall place a guy at the museum suggested. *****

Had the day off and the sun was shining, so went for a run on a new route, passing this sun under a bridge and kept running til I felt like stopping after 16km. First long run in years.

MONDAY 18 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 261 DAYS

Day one of our sculpture course with Dutch artist Frode Bolhuis. Polymer clay, learning, mixing colours, making patterns. A group from all over the world, Australia, Hong Kong, Russia, Ukraine, The US. Very cool to be here. ****

Spotted two fighter jets flying side by side close to each other and one of the jet planes spewing out black smoke.
If you look closely you can see a stripe of black smoke behind the red building on the right.
The jet planes are two small splatches in the horizon near the white building on the left.

SUNDAY 17 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 260 DAYS

A mission of a day. Up early…drove back to Plymouth, dropped Otto off, repacked. Drove to the Cotswolds, had a sandwich, a quick shower, picked my friend Margie up who is over from Chicago and drove up to Derby. Had a funny evening in a local pub garden drinking a Guinness and listening to open mic night. ****

A gorgeous late summer Sunday, blue sky and warm weather and great big waves at the beach.
Had champagne for breakfast, went for a lush swim before lunch and before dinner jumping and whirling in the waves.
BBQ for dinner and then back to the city after sunset.

SATURDAY 16 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 259 DAYS

A weekend in Cornwall with Leo Sayer’s drummer, Steven and his new band. Good times walking, chatting, relaxing then dancing to a couple of bands. I didn’t know many people and then one girl gave me a huge smile. It was so uplifting and friendly and made me realise what I do for other people with mine. The power of the smile really hit home that evening. ****

Waking up to beautiful sunlight spilling into my summerhouse in the morning, love this little sanctuary.

FRIDAY 15 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 258 DAYS

This parasol was used a lot at Boomtown for shade and locating us in a crowd….it was used and abused as we danced…it broke but today I fixed it. Fixing it reminded me of one of my favourite memories of India when I saw a man working quietly in the street fixing umbrellas. Something the west could learn about instead of wasting broken things *****

Long work week and lots of activities during the week, so a very lazy Friday night dinner at the summerhouse; canned food.
Still delicious.

WEDNESDAY 6 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 249 DAYS

Met up with the crew at Lidl before heading into my first ever Boomtown. We’re all camping in artist camping, close by but not together as I’m in my van and they’re in a big tent 🥰 *****

Everyday to and from work I bicycle past a small park where this frog is sitting.
Today I stopped and went in to see the frog.
My uncle helped make this frog decades ago and once in a while it gets a little facelift/brush up. It is in Folkets Park ( the People’s Park) in Nørrebro.

TUESDAY 5 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 248 DAYS

Left London and drove past this beautiful lady. Visited my parents for the night and played Scrabble with my Mother. *****

After work bicycled to Amager to get Copenhagens best Brunsviger ( a typical danish birthday cake; Breaddough cake with a sugar coating) for Peters birthday.
Then home to make a nice dinner of cold potato salad and chicken.
This perfect rainbow appeared during dinner and it was hard to take our eyes of it and pictures don’t do it justice.

MONDAY 4 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 247 DAYS

A solo visit to the Portrait Gallery to see the Jenny Saville exhibition. Then a meet up with Jessie and friends wig shopping for Boomtown. I bought curlers. Then a date with my bass player in a rooftop cocktail bar in Peckham Rye. A good day. *****

Having the day off, starting the Monday with Aikido morning training and coffee afterwards.

This really pretty ikebana is made by one of the Dojo members.

It’s on display below the kamidana. The Kamidana (神棚, lit. ’god/spirit-shelf’) are miniature household altars provided to enshrine a Shinto kami. They are most commonly found in Japan, the home of kamiworship
