SUNDAY 31 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 274 DAYS

A bad day. Claustrophobic at home. Not being given space. Walked in Ivybridge which was beautiful. This is me sheltering under a tree from the rain. The highs and the lows of life *****

Really hung over after Henrik’s 50th birthday party the night before, but still managed to get up and join him and the rest of the family for lunch and birthday cake in the park Enghave Parken.

SATURDAY 30 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 273 DAYS

Swam. Had the house to myself but my housemate kept coming back. Space is needed. Space is important. Wish I could have been at Henrik’s 50th celebrations. No photo. *****

No sleep all night and a stressful morning, trying to keep the secret about my brother’s surprise 50th birthday party.
Managed to surprise Henrik, and apparently no clue, so was shocked and surprised and very happy.

WEDNESDAY 27 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 270 DAYS

Incredible how a swim in gloomy weather can improve the mental state of the mind ****

Met up with Peter after work at SMK (Statens Museum for Kunst/ the State museum for Art).
There are a lot of paintings from the Golden age (Guldalder maleri, not sure if it’s a direct translation) in the museum and when we left, the museum and the sky looked like a golden age painting.

FRIDAY 22 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 265 DAYS

Final day making figure sculptures with the Dutch artist Frode Bolhuis..a very well spent week. Afterwards we drove back to the Cotswolds to Margie’s sister’s house. A couple of beers was medicine for a bombshell of a text received just before we did our final exhibition, cancelling 2 months of future work I had coming up with Disney. You got to roll with the punches….*****

This is the basement of the hospital where my locker room is.
Passing through the halls after work hour work out.
Maybe you can see me?

TUESDAY 19 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 262 DAYS

Frode Bolhuis showing us how to make a polymer clay figure. The ease and grace with which he placed the fingers and feet on was a delight to watch. Had delicious curry in an authentic little hole in the wall place a guy at the museum suggested. *****

Had the day off and the sun was shining, so went for a run on a new route, passing this sun under a bridge and kept running til I felt like stopping after 16km. First long run in years.

MONDAY 18 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 261 DAYS

Day one of our sculpture course with Dutch artist Frode Bolhuis. Polymer clay, learning, mixing colours, making patterns. A group from all over the world, Australia, Hong Kong, Russia, Ukraine, The US. Very cool to be here. ****

Spotted two fighter jets flying side by side close to each other and one of the jet planes spewing out black smoke.
If you look closely you can see a stripe of black smoke behind the red building on the right.
The jet planes are two small splatches in the horizon near the white building on the left.

SUNDAY 17 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 260 DAYS

A mission of a day. Up early…drove back to Plymouth, dropped Otto off, repacked. Drove to the Cotswolds, had a sandwich, a quick shower, picked my friend Margie up who is over from Chicago and drove up to Derby. Had a funny evening in a local pub garden drinking a Guinness and listening to open mic night. ****

A gorgeous late summer Sunday, blue sky and warm weather and great big waves at the beach.
Had champagne for breakfast, went for a lush swim before lunch and before dinner jumping and whirling in the waves.
BBQ for dinner and then back to the city after sunset.

SATURDAY 16 AUGUST 2025: NINE YEARS 259 DAYS

A weekend in Cornwall with Leo Sayer’s drummer, Steven and his new band. Good times walking, chatting, relaxing then dancing to a couple of bands. I didn’t know many people and then one girl gave me a huge smile. It was so uplifting and friendly and made me realise what I do for other people with mine. The power of the smile really hit home that evening. ****

Waking up to beautiful sunlight spilling into my summerhouse in the morning, love this little sanctuary.
