EIGHT YEARS 243 DAYS / DAY TWENTY-SIX: TUESDAY 30 JULY 2024

A little plant manages to grow out of the rocks at Mount Edgecombe

So back in January 2021, the first time, Victoria invited me to join her side by side photoblog, the theme was movement (there is some amazing pairings from that theme, worth having a look at).

On day three, I had a plan on taking a picture in the nearby park of me or others running, but then in the cold dark winters night, I saw under light of some lampposts a group of people doing some really powerful and graceful movements with a long stick in unison, like winter Ninjas. It looked intriguing and I asked if a could take a picture of them for photoblog.

They said yes and also invited me to join them in the training, so the following weeks I went to the park to train what turned out to be Aikido.

Now 3 years later, this is a very proud me with my diploma for achieving 3. Kyu in Aikido on june 21st 2024.

It is very ceremonial with a diploma, but love the feeling of achievement when I look at it.

So Thank you Victoria for sending me out on a mission in the world and coming back richer:)

Xx

EIGHT YEARS 242 DAYS / DAY TWENTY-FIVE: MONDAY 29 JULY 2024

Sweet peas from my garden

Achievement; carrying the world on your shoulders in Carlsberg byen.
A new town district being built conserving the old historical buildings (and some of the old trees). The guy on the roof; Atlas, has been carrying the world since 1899 and has been in the Carlsberg district since 1972.
He is 3,5 meters high and weighs 300 kg.

EIGHT YEARS 241 DAYS / DAY TWENTY-FOUR: SUNDAY 28 JULY 2024

Steve’s 50th. Still going strong on the Sunday. And Otto was here and was a total gem. Years of training has worked out 🥰

So today’s picture of achievement is the fruit of hard work all spring and summer.
This spring I planted 2 (very) small blueberry bushes ( and it had to be at least 2, because if you only plant 1, there will be no berries) and then I have made sure to cut back the fern on either side, so that it wouldn’t be overshadowed, also had to fend off killer snails and make sure the deer couldn’t get to them and eat then before me.
And then today 4 perfectly blue blueberries (I dropped one and couldn’t find it).

EIGHT YEARS 239 DAYS / DAY TWENTY-TWO: FRIDAY 26 JULY 2024

Made it to Steve’s 50th at Lapwing Farm, Somerset after completing painting all the plastered parts in my kitchen and bathroom

Herslev bryghus have their own fields of corn they use for the beer, so the brewery is surrounded by fields, and the mask that is a by product of beer making, they can use as feed for their own lifestock.
They are locally based and organic and their beer taste great also the non-alcoholic type, they also made a delicious lunch with local vegetables.
So great achievement to focus on biodiversity, organic production and local community and make great beer.

EIGHT YEARS 238 DAYS / DAY TWENTY-ONE: THURSDAY 25 JULY 2024

I have under taken A War on Snails and Slugs this summer, collecting them all from my garden and taking them far away (any “War on .. fails as we all know)….This guy arrived outside my bedroom window (upstairs) to taunt me. A pretty incredible achievement!

A genius piece of man made engineering, beautiful to look at and an important part of Danish maritime history.

EIGHT YEARS 230 DAYS / DAY THIRTEEN: WEDNESDAY 17 JULY 2024

Swept my courtyard post rubbleland after the wall coming down in my kitchen….and the first 2 beans on my bran arch 🥰

So this is a butterfly in the merian plant, that I planted 2 years ago. There is also a rosmarin somewhere in there. The bees and the butterflies are loving it.
It was one of these small herb pots you buy in the supermarket for cooking. Used most of it and didn’t think it would last the summer let alone over 2 winters, but it’s still there and thriving.
Also, the stones, around the house, which are meant to drive away moisture from the wood is a new addition this year.
This spring I bought a ton (1000kg) of stones to be delivered. They came in a big bag delivered on the street, so in a day Peter and I shoveled 500 kg each.
Plus of course I have painted the whole house, but that’s 2 summers ago.
So lots of past achievements to be enjoyed on a sunny day today, both my own and the merian plant’s.
