Madurai, Southern India

Madurai, Southern India

2 buses from Pondicherry to Madurai. A long day but was super chilled about it all and succeeded in getting to Madurai.

Boxing Day. Totally chill day with curd / yoghurt and fruit for breakfast and fresh salad for lunch and dinner. Cravings for fruit and veg have been high so this was perfect. Then made sand paintings in the street and 2 local ladies joined in. Perfect.

Shopping at the market and a trip to the dentist for a teeth clean.

Chennai to Pondicherry by bus. Hello Pondicherry… love you already 🥰🪷

Lovely lazy morning in Kolkata followed by a taxi to the airport and a plane to Chennai. Back south…

Sculpture making area, flower market, a fun exploratory day out with Mouli.

Kolkata. The Victoria Memorial.
Wandering the streets.

Kolkata…. first day. First impression. I love it.

Varanasi you have our hearts

Varanasi uncovered. Live music by a legend on the ghats.

Varanasi in no particular order. As I believe it should be for here. A mesmerizing ancient city. Which reminds me of Venice, Italy

Lucknow to Varanasi. The morning where we heard then saw then smelt the monkey get electrocuted on the roof of the train. He then slid off like a dead weight. And twitched. Monkeys came over. He was definitely dead. Then he came to…but was really wobbly. Unforgettable

Lucknow in one weird smelly day

Kasar Devi by shared taxi to Kathgodam
Kathgodam to Lucknow by train

Kasar Devi. Where Bob Dylan, Cat Stephens, Allen Ginsberg came to be. One of the best rooms with a view I’ve ever had 🥰🙏

Enough was enough. Got myself out of bed and walked 9 ks up to see 180 degrees of Himalayas. A great journey with my guide, Santosh. Back down the 9ks and then packed my bags and moved to Kasar Devi, a place of resounding beauty visited by Bob Dylan, Allen Ginsberg, Cat Stevens etc back in the day. So happy to be feeling positive again and to laugh. Not 100% well but mentally back and inspired by life again.

A day in bed, Binsar. Gutted to be ill but glad to be in a place like this. Frustrating.
